That's the town just west of Middle Jordan. (He he). Anyway, I am posting about our last lesson on LEARNING. I hope you all have been having a great week. I have! So last Sunday we discussed why learning is an important part of the plan of salvation. The first list we made was reasons that learning is important, and which components of our Father's Plan each reason related to. This is what we came up with:
Why is learning important? / What does that have to do with the Plan of S.?
- Knowledge is the only thing you take with you / Resurrection and Eternal Life
- Politically advantageous / Gift of Agency, becoming more like Heavenly Father
- Avoiding awkward silence in class / Building relationships, spreading the gospel
- Qualifies you for jobs / Supporting family, creating a good home environment
- Ability to teach or lead others / Missionary work
We also talked about sources of learning, which we identified as parents, teachers, books, Internet resources, research articles, the scriptures or Church leaders, friends, and personal witnesses from the Holy Ghost. Some sources of information are very reliable while others need to be used with caution or at least judiciously. The only 100% reliable source of truth is the Holy Ghost, and He can teach us the truth of all things, bring things to our remembrance, reveal mysteries of God, or give us the answers to any kind of questions we ask. That's pretty impressive, eh?
One other thing we talked about was what each of you might like to do as a future occupation. We had a great list including things like: engineer, fire fighter, mortician, police officer, car designer, surgeon, chemist, musical performer, interior designer, nurse, professional backpacker, and more! I fully support you guys in becoming whatever you want to be! Let's remember as we're learning to seek knowledge from the best sources.
Love,
Sister Lewis
